Bronze 72 cm signed Height: 72 cm. Base diameter: approx. 22 cm. Signed "E. Drouot". Stamped "BD Fondeur, Paris". Plaque engraved "Hebe Par Drouot (Hors Concours)". Bronze, cast, patinated. Above a fluted, rounded base, the figure of the Greek goddess of youth. Hebe is depicted here rising up, wearing a close-fitting robe, before an eagle, the symbol of royal power, honor, and dignity. France, 19th/20th centur Pierre Etienne Daniel Campagne (1851–1914) was a French sculptor of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Life and Work: Education: He was a student of the renowned sculptor Alexandre Falguière. Exhibitions: Campagne exhibited his works regularly at the Paris Salon from 1889 onward. Style: His works are associated with Art Nouveau. He primarily created figures and busts, often depicting mythological themes. Best-Known Work: His most famous work is the figure of Phryné (Phryne devant ses juges – Phryne before her judges), which he created in various sizes and materials (plaster, marble, bronze). A plaster version was exhibited at the Salon in 1893, and a marble version in 1894. Other works: His other well-known sculptures include "L'hymne du soir" and "L'inspiration," as well as depictions of mermaids (Undines). Materials: He worked primarily with bronze, marble, and terracotta. His artworks continue to be sold at auction and can be found in private collections.
