About the Item

The next year, it went into the possession of the Pope's family in the Farnese Palace in Rome, where, in 1550, it was partially restored under Michelangelo's advisement; it underwent a second restoration by Gian Battista Bianchi circa 1580. A portion of the Farnese Collection, including the Farnese Bull, was sent to Naples in 1788 and later placed in the Museo Nazionale, where it still remains today.
