About the Item

One of a kind , dressed statue of the crowned Virgin Mary. The sculptural mastery of the piece is remarkable, with an impressive sweetness and solemn expression. It is presented in an elaborate, neo-Gothic carved wooden shrine that adds value and presence to the piece. As is typical of dressed statues, it has a pyramid-shaped wooden structure that is covered by the robes. The majestic robes are a light blue, adorned with an intricate floral pattern in ecru and finished with gold trim, as well as elaborate lace. This type of design is very characteristic of images of the Virgin Mary, as the color blue has traditionally been associated with purity and royalty in Christian art. In religious iconography, blue symbolizes the divine and heavenly grace, and is a royal color that denotes her status as "Queen of Heaven." She is crowned with a spectacular, richly detailed, large crown topped with a cross and ornamented with various embroidered elements. It highlights the majesty of the figure. The coronation of the Virgin as Queen and Lady of the Universe is the culmination of the privileges granted to Saint Mary. It was supernaturally logical that the Mother of God, once assumed body and soul into the glory of Heaven, would be exalted by the Holy Trinity above the choirs of angels and the entire hierarchy of saints. “Greater than You, only God.” In good condition for its age. The original polychromy is preserved, as well as the flesh tones of the limbs. There are some losses on the hands and face, as shown in the images.
