About the Item

Bisque Porcelain and Gilt Candelabras Figures of putti supporting the arms, porcelain floral candle cups. 24 x 11.5 inches A matched pair of bisque porcelain and gilt-bronze candelabras, each centered by a standing putto modeled in fine white bisque. The figures are shown in contrapposto, arms raised to support the candelabrum above, with softly articulated features and delicately rendered hair, characteristic of high-quality porcelain modeling. Each putto stands on a fluted porcelain socle mounted to a circular gilt base with classical moldings. Rising from the figures are gilt-metal standards with scrolling, foliate arms terminating in porcelain floral-form candle cups. The gilt elements are richly worked, with acanthus and rocaille-inspired details that contrast elegantly with the matte surface of the bisque porcelain. The overall composition balances sculptural refinement with decorative functionality, evoking late 19th-century Continental taste, particularly within the Neoclassical and Louis XVI revival traditions. These candelabras present a refined interplay of materials—warm gilding against cool white porcelain—and would have been intended as statement objects for a mantel, console, or formal interior setting.
