About the Item

Coppia di capitelli medievali decorati a motivi fogliacei, Lombardia, XII secolo. La forma slanciata da cui si dipartono le foglie lanceolate, sormontata da una spessa mensola, è tipica dei capitelli lombardi prodotti tra l'XI e il XII secolo. La pietra utilizzata, di colore bianco, dovrebbe essere il cosiddetto "marmo di Zandobbio", una dolomia cristallina utilizzata fin dall'epoca romana per le sue pregiate qualità estetiche e fisiche, le cui cave si trovano in prossimità della città di Bergamo. Il suo color latte che ricorda il marmo bianco era molto apprezzato per realizzare i dettagli decorativi delle chiese romaniche, come capitelli, basi e pavimenti. Dei due capitelli uno presenta alcune mancanze. Segni del tempo e patina originale. Misure H cm 25 L max cm 23 P max cm 23
