Coppia di Fregi a forma di cigno in legno scolpito e dorato a mecca. Italia, seconda metà del XVIII secolo. Nel XVIII secolo, il motivo del cigno nel XVII e XVIII secolo era strettamente legato al suo simbolismo legato all'amore eterno e alla fedeltà, spesso rappresentato con due cigni che si baciano o formano un cuore. La figura del cigno, associata ad Apollo nella mitologia classica, è ricorrente nelle opere letterarie per rappresentare la grazia femminile, la bellezza struggente del canto e la nobiltà d’animo. Mario Praz identifica il cigno come simbolo della grazia sotto il Primo Impero. Nei testi emblematici, il cigno appare come segno di purezza e integrità morale, come mostrato negli "Emblemata" di Alciato e del Sambuco.
