This statue is handcrafted by lost wax process which is one of the ancient process of metal craft. Medicine History Buddha is seated in "Padmasana" or meditation pose holding a medicinal plant. Medicine Buddha is believed to have healing power. It has 24K gold plating on body and sterling silver carvings of different phases in Buddha's life on the robe. It has a very fine and intricate workmanship.
A long process is required to make a statue complete unlike mass production. It is made by artisans of Patan, Nepal where skill is passed down for generations. A booklet on procedure of making a statue comes with the purchase.
