Pair of carved, gilded, and painted wood sculptures - Flag-bearing lions. Venice, late 16th century.
40 x 30 x 75 cm.
Made entirely of carved, gilded, and painted wood. They depict a pair of lions seated on their backs with straight tails, originally holding a flagpole with a noble effigy.
