About the Item

Majolica depicting a Boxer breed dog of Tuscan manufacture, executed around 1960s. It measures 28x52x78 cm and is airbrushed, coated, modeled and finished by hand. Majolica is a type of ceramic pottery production characterized by a porous body coated, mainly by immersion, with a stanniferous (or at most lead) glaze. The Italian name is derived from that of the island of Majorca, one of the most active centers in such trade in the Middle Ages. In a narrow and specialized sense, "majolica" is only that ceramic with stanniferous glaze. In a broader sense, however, even in dictionaries, all glazed earthenware, that is, any cookie object coated with white glaze, decorated and annealed with or without crystalline glazes, is considered majolica. The state of preservation of the artifact is good and it has never undergone restoration.
