About the Item
Vladimir Yankilevsky (1938–2018) was a major Russian artist of the second half of the twentieth century, associated with the Soviet nonconformist movement. His work is distinguished by hybrid triptychs that combine painting, reliefs, and sculptural elements, exploring the inner tensions of individuals confronted with social and political constraints. Through an intense visual language — fragmented figures, symbolic forms, expressive colors — Yankilevsky sought to depict alienation, the duality of human existence, and the quest for freedom within an oppressive environment. Positioned at the intersection of surrealism, expressionism, and conceptual art, his work are exposed in many museums around the world, including Center Pompidou in Paris. His sculptures are very rare on the market.
