About the Item
This sculpture is part of the latest series of works by Asturian artist Pablo Maojo (1961, Villaviciosa). His works are found in museum and cultural institution collections around the world, and his approach to sculpture is one of the most influential for all subsequent sculptors in Spain.
He always works with wood; in this case, the work is oak, and he treats it by making cuts and incisions in the support as if it were a lattice or a lampshade. It could also be understood as a lattice window, enjoying all the lines it projects into the space is impressive. Its strength is apotheotic, the wood is treated with a combination of varnishes made with oxides that the artist himself has been producing and researching for decades. This is what gives it the color and texture so characteristic of Maojo's work.
