About the Item

Edition of 25. 'Robin' by Richard Smith. A bronze sculpture of a robin perched on a plant pot, with two snails nestled inside, is a charming celebration of nature’s small yet captivating moments. The sculptor captures the robin’s distinctive character with delicate attention to form—the bird sits upright, its head tilted slightly as though inquisitively watching over its domain. Its chest, patinated in a warm red, provides a vivid focal point against the rich brown tones of the plant pot and surrounding details. The contrast highlights the robin’s familiar beauty, instantly recognisable and full of life. The plant pot itself is textured with care, evoking the worn surfaces of terracotta and garden earth, grounding the composition in a homely, rustic setting. Within, the two snails add a delightful touch of whimsy and storytelling, their small forms inviting the viewer to lean closer and discover the finer details hidden in the piece. The brown patina, combined with the robin’s red breast, gives warmth and depth to the sculpture, while the tactile finish encourages engagement by hand as well as eye. More than a naturalistic study, this piece celebrates the quiet harmony of wildlife and garden life, preserving in bronze a tender, timeless moment of beauty and curiosity.
