About the Item

Small-scale clay sculpture in acrylic explores consumption through a juice-carton object, pairing sugar and pill imagery within a snowy emotional landscape. This hand-modeled clay sculpture painted in acrylic interrogates consumption, sweetness and pharmaceutical relief by recasting a quotidian juice carton as an emblem of emotional supply and overload. Executed in a compact, freestanding format (14 x 8.5 x 6 cm), the work employs a restrained white-dominated palette that evokes winter and a snow-bound landscape while small, pill-like elements and sugary motifs puncture the surface. The combination of clay sculpture and acrylic paint produces tactile, relief-like passages where the materiality of the clay meets the flat, graphic language of commercial packaging. Vera Vizzi situates this object within a broader practice that recurrently stages avalanches, snowy terrains and tiny objects as metaphors for psychic weather and collective habits. Here the motif of the carton becomes a twofold symbol: on one level a literal container for consumable pleasure and on another a compact repository of contemporary coping strategies—sugar, medication, quick fixes—that cascade like an emotional avalanche. The juxtaposition of sugary iconography and pill forms invites readings that range from social critique to intimate psychoanalytic resonance, linking bodily appetite with mental care and cultural economies of happiness. Materials and technique are described plainly: hand-made clay (self-hardening), painted with layered acrylics and finished with a protective varnish. The small scale and portable nature of the piece allow flexible display options—shelf, console, or vitrine—where its objecthood can be read both as sculptural artifact and as narrated prop. This work repeats Vizzi’s interest in the interplay between landscape and psyche, using a wintery, snowlike field as a backdrop for contemporary anxieties shaped by consumption. Mixed-Media Wall Sculpture foam clay, acrylic enamel on wood. "In a While"
By Vera Vizzi
Located in FISTERRA, ES
IN A WHILE (2025) is a small-scale, wall-mounted mixed-media sculpture by Vera Vizzi that transforms a familiar domestic object into a sculptural encounter. Hand-modeled in foam clay and applied onto a compact wooden block (25 x 9 x 10 cm), the work is finished with layered acrylic paint and enamel marker decoration along the extruded “tube” form. The piece foregrounds tactile surface, color contrast (white base with red/yellow graphic motifs) and a vertical, relief-like silhouette that reads equally as objet d’art or a focused accent on a gallery wall. Conceptually the work frames an everyday action — squeezing a tube — as a compressed temporal event: small gestures that compress time and meaning. Keywords for search and contextualisation: mixed media on wood, foam clay sculpture, enamel and acrylic, wall sculpture, small contemporary sculpture...

Candy Trip - Resin Sculpture Pop Art
By Alben
Located in New York, NY
Cheeky references to pop culture and the societal context. Grounded in a postmodern vernacular, Alben’s paintings and sculptures are a pastiche of art historical moments including Pop and Classical art. Interested in street art, the self-taught artist references an array of cultural touchstones in his densely layered, often stencil-sprayed paintings; his allusions include corporate mascots, historical figures, actors, comic book characters, and artists. His sculpture similarly embraces popular culture, though it is also directly influenced by the work of the French artist Arman, who exhibited commercial objects as sculpture in the 1960s. Similarly insisting that popular culture and aesthetic production are linked, Alben inverts Arman’s structure by reimagining touchstones of art history such as the Venus de Milo as a configuration of crushed Coke cans
