Executed in a compact, freestanding format (14 x 8.5 x 6 cm), the work employs a restrained white-dominated palette that evokes winter and a snow-bound landscape while small, pill-like elements and sugary motifs puncture the surface. The combination of clay sculpture and acrylic paint produces tactile, relief-like passages where the materiality of the clay meets the flat, graphic language of commercial packaging.
Vera Vizzi situates this object within a broader practice that recurrently stages avalanches, snowy terrains and tiny objects as metaphors for psychic weather and collective habits. Here the motif of the carton becomes a twofold symbol: on one level a literal container for consumable pleasure and on another a compact repository of contemporary coping strategies—sugar, medication, quick fixes—that cascade like an emotional avalanche. Materials and technique are described plainly: hand-made clay (self-hardening), painted with layered acrylics and finished with a protective varnish. The small scale and portable nature of the piece allow flexible display options—shelf, console, or vitrine—where its objecthood can be read both as sculptural artifact and as narrated prop. Vera Vizzi
Vera Vizzi (Milan, 1983) is an Italian artist working across painting and sculpture, blending materials and formats to create hybrid, tactile objects. With a background in Communication Design from the Politecnico di Milano, she transitioned from digital graphics to a fully manual, material-driven practice that prioritizes gesture, texture and symbolic resonance. Her work often takes the form of wall-mounted reliefs or compact sculptural volumes, where colour, surface and miniature figures coexist in compositions that evoke emotional, poetic and metaphysical layers.Rooted in a personal yet universal iconography, Vizzi’s pieces explore themes such as memory, perception and the paradoxes of human experience. Her distinctive visual language—at once playful and introspective—invites the viewer into suspended spaces that suggest both intimacy and distance. IN A WHILE (2025) is a small-scale, wall-mounted mixed-media sculpture by Vera Vizzi that transforms a familiar domestic object into a sculptural encounter. Hand-modeled in foam clay and applied onto a compact wooden block (25 x 9 x 10 cm), the work is finished with layered acrylic paint and enamel marker decoration along the extruded “tube” form.
