About the Item

Wayne Warren (1940) Want/Need Biscuits (2013) 3D printed; resin, gypsum powder and acrylic hand finished by the artist 7 x 7 x 2.5 in (17.8 x 17.8 x 6.3 cm) each Edition of 9 === Graduating in 1972 from Exeter University, London, with a bachelor’s degree in Art and Education Psychology, Wayne Warren (b. 1940) has established himself as a contemporary artist in both two- and three-dimensional pieces. His work highlights the consumer’s fixation with materialism and challenges the market valuation of physical goods. Warren’s oeuvre consists of works incorporating a most diverse spectrum of media: from 3D-printing, to sculpture incorporating found objects, to – most recently – lenticular printing. Warren uses these media and others to focus on a concept perhaps most succinctly summarized by curator Reg Newitt – that “we are driven by conflicting interests: idealism versus reality, want versus need, progression versus regression, construction versus destruction, knowledge versus purity…” Most recently exhibited at the Bury Museum in the UK, Warren’s stunning creations are prominently featured in many public and private collections across the globe. His work may be found in many public collections such as Judith Neilson, Founder/Director, White Rabbit Collection, Sydney; Lloyds The First Ten Years Luton Museum and Art Gallery, England; The Long Gallery; Birmingham University; Lloyds Bank, England; Norwich Hospital; Montclair Kimberley Academy, NJ, USA; and Cambridge University.
