Sleek Wooden Boat - Mid Century Modern Wall Hanging Sculpture
Simple but elegant wooden sculpture of a boat by William Tripp (American.) The body of the boat is comprised on multiple joined and carved pieces of wood. The grain of the wood is positioned so that subtle horizontal lines run along the length of the hull. At the front of the hull, the different directions of the grain become more pronounced, providing a sense of pattern. Besides the main hull of the boat, there are the flat carved shapes of an oar, the rudder, and the keel. The different components are all attached to another flat piece of wood, with small holes along the top edge for hanging. The entire piece is stained with a rich redwood tone, further bringing out the grain and other details of the material.

From the estate of artist Russell Tripp, this sculpture was done by his father and fellow painter, William Tripp.
