Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fox Ashtrays
By Mappin Webb
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
An exceptional, fine, and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver fox ashtrays; an addition to our smoking related silverware collection These exceptional antique Victorian sterling ashtrays have a plain circular form. The surface of each piece is plain and embellished with an impressive cast sterling silver model of a fox. Each fox is ornamented with details replicating the mammal's anatomical features and fur. The raised rounded sides of each dish/ashtray bears two semi-circular indentations to the rim. These versatile examples of Victorian silverware were crafted as ash trays, however, by virtue of their size they could be utilised as bon bon or sweet meat dishes. Condition These antique silver fox ashtrays are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique smoking...
