Gia Certified Tourmaline For Sale on 1stDibs

You are likely to find exactly the gia certified tourmaline you’re looking for on 1stDibs, as there is a broad range for sale. Each design created in this style — which was crafted with great care and often made from Gold, 18k Gold and White Gold — can elevate any look. You can easily find a 10 antique edition and 63 modern creations to choose from as well. Making the right choice when shopping for a gia certified tourmaline may mean carefully reviewing examples of this item dating from different eras — you can find an early iteration of this piece from the 20th Century and a newer version made as recently as the 21st Century, both of which have proven very popular over the years. For this particular accessory, there are many different carat weights to choose from, but .5 Carat and 1 Carat versions are of considerable interest. A gia certified tourmaline from Berca Atelier, Merkaba and Alexander of Beverly Hills — each of whom created a beautiful version of this treasured accessory — is worth considering. An oval cut version of this piece has appeal, but there are also pear cut and cushion cut versions for sale. Finding a gia certified tourmaline for sale for women should be easy, but there are 21 pieces available to browse for unisex as well as men, too.

How Much is a Gia Certified Tourmaline?

On average, a gia certified tourmaline at 1stDibs sells for $12,900, while they’re typically $950 on the low end and $250,000 for the highest priced versions of this item.

The Legacy of Tourmaline in Jewelry Design

Very few gems dazzle quite in the manner that tourmaline does — vintage and antique tourmaline jewelry is a showstopper, and you can blame this on its wide range of spectacular colors. In fact, when Dutch traders brought stones back home from Sri Lanka that they couldn't identify, they called them "toramalli," a Sinhalese term for "mixed gems."

If you could transform the ocean to a gem, this is what it would look like: a clear, translucent azure, bordering on turquoise, hypnotizing in its depth and sparkling in the sun.

There is, in fact, such a stone, although it comes from deep in the copper-rich mountains of Paraíba, Brazil, and not from the oceans along its coast. Far rarer than diamonds, Paraíba tourmaline, a kind of tourmaline discovered only in the 1980s, is treasured as much for its extraordinary color as its scarcity, both of which contribute to its high value.

While diamonds generally sell for about $6,000 per carat, a carat of Paraíba tourmaline is likely to fetch about $16,000. Fans of the gem are said to include singer Taylor Swift and actress Zooey Deschanel, as well as some of the finest jewelers.

“No other stone can have a color as magnetic and captivating as Paraíba tourmaline,” says Vania Leles of VanLeles Diamonds, who combines the stone with diamonds and other gems in several of her designs.

You don't have to stop at Paraíba tourmaline jewelry — on 1stDibs, find the most extraordinary antique and vintage tourmaline rings, tourmaline and diamond earrings and other accessories.

Questions About Gia Certified Tourmaline
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 17, 2021
In the United States, diamond rings are certified by an official gemological laboratory known as the Gemological Institute of America. A certified diamond ring means that the diamond has undergone a quality analysis by experts at an institution such as the GIA and these experts have issued a lab report that is indicative of the grading process.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Yes, Cartier diamonds are indeed GIA certified. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) works closely with Cartier and certifies everything from the cut and clarity to the color of the gem. Shop a collection of expertly vetted Cartier jewelry from some of the world’s top sellers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 22, 2021
When a diamond is GIA certified, it means that the stone has undergone the meticulous set of grading procedures that have been established by the Gemological Institute of America. The GIA is not a jeweler — it is an independent, nonprofit group that sets the standards for determining the quality of a diamond.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 13, 2023
While diamond studs don't need to be GIA-certified to be sold, experts typically recommend that you only purchase diamonds that carry certification from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or Authentic Gem Security Lab (AGSL). Certifications bring transparency to the buying process, allowing you to know the level of quality of a diamond before you purchase it. Shop a collection of vintage and modern diamond gemstone earrings from some of the world’s top jewelers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 22, 2022
Whether Neil Lane diamonds are GIA-certified or not depends on the piece. All of the diamonds featured in rings and other jewelry designs from the Neil Lane Couture collection do carry GIA certification. Pieces made for third-party retailers may not. On 1stDibs, find a collection of Neil Lane jewelry.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 15, 2024
Many experts believe that buying a GIA-certified diamond is worth it. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has a well-established reputation for providing accurate, trustworthy ratings and certifications. A diamond that carries a GIA certification has undergone rigorous examinations and tests to assess its quality, which can make it a good investment. Find a diverse assortment of diamond jewelry on 1stDibs.
