Produced in 1787, the latter is the oldest of the three and today is part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, New York. David painted the Oath of the Horatii in 1784, and the work is now on view at the Louvre in Paris, France. Portraying the moments after the death of a leading figure of the French Revolution, the Death of Marat dates back to 1793. It hangs in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels, Belgium.
