The first permanent image created by a camera — which materialized during the 1820s — is attributed to Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. The French inventor was on to something for sure. But that’s not the whole history, the venue opened in 1927 as Gallo Opera House, and in 1942 CBS began using it for television and radio broadcasts before it was turned into a nightclub and dubbed Studio 54. Since the closing of the disco, it has been transformed into a theatre that is still called Studio 54 and features productions from the Roundabout Theatre Company.
