Located in Studio City, CA
An engaging and quite coveted work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Japanese Woodblock Print Misty Evening Shinobazu Pond Shiro Kasamatsu
Located in Atlanta, GA
A poetically ambient Japanese woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991). Entitled "Kasumu Yube, Shinobazu Chihan" (Misty Evening at Shinobazu Pond), the print is one of the best-known landscape works by the artist. In an unusual color variation of near monotone "Arizuri" blue, the print depicts a spring evening by the pond when the sunset is receding into the night. The dim light with a soft glow was wonderfully reflected in the image. Composed in a perspective that is more western view, the image of the figures taking the steps under the Torii gate plays hide and seek through the branches of the weeping willows by the pond. The nearly all blue color, facilitated only with the dark silhouette of the trunk, renders the imagery a moody emotion.
On the left margin there is the Title in Japanese (霞む夕べ 不忍池畔)and the artist's name Kasamatsu Shiro...

Japanese Edo 19th Century Signed Utagawa Kuniyoshi Diptych Woodblock Print
Located in Yonkers, NY
An antique Japanese Edo period diptych woodblock print from the early to mid 19th century, signed by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Immerse yourself in the Japanese Edo period artistry with this antique 19th-century diptych woodblock print. Signed by the artist, this captivating piece is a striking depiction of a tranquil interior scene, rendered in a soothing color palette of blue, pink, and black tones.
This print comprises two panels, assembled under glass in a custom frame to form a cohesive narrative. The scene captures a specific moment in time, presenting a man surrounded by four women and a child, beautifully adorned in traditional Japanese garments. The intricate details of their clothing are a testament to the artisan's skill, bringing an element of authenticity and depth to the scene.
On the left, three women sit in a state of relaxed conversation, while another stands, graciously offering a tray. Adding intrigue, two additional women can be spotted peeking through a slightly open window, one cleverly concealing her face behind a fan. A child, smaller in stature, sits attentively in front of the man, further enhancing the scene's narrative quality.
A signature from the artist adds an additional layer of authenticity, making this piece a must-have for collectors of antique Japanese art...

Paul Binnie Limited Edition Signed Japanese Woodblock Cloud Shadows Grand Canyon
By Paul Binnie
Located in Studio City, CA
An awe inspiring image of the Grand Canyon by Scottish born Japanese woodblock print artist Paul Binnie. The subtle colors changes and depth of this work is breathtaking. This print from his "Meishou to no tabi" (Travels with the Master) series, an homage to Japanese legend print maker Hiroshi Yoshida, whose 1925 image of The Grand Canyon Binnie was inspired by, was made from over 30 color impressions using 14 blocks. It took nearly two and a half years to complete.
This rare double Oban size print, displays Binnie's red seal, is pencil signed by Binnie, titled (Cloud Shadows, Grand Canyon" in English and "Guranndo Kyanionn" in Japanese/Katakana along the left side margin), and numbered (6/100) by Binnie. His embossed name can also be seen in the center of the lower margin. It was printed by Numabe Shinkichi of the Yoshida family studio.
Quite frankly, in my humble opinion, it is one of the greatest and most complex woodblock prints ever created. Would be the crown jewel to any Japanese or Asian art print...
