Richard Ginori China Dinner Service with a botanical print by Munting Abraham
By Richard Ginori, Abraham Munting
Located in Roma, IT
A set of dishes made in Italy during the 80s, as attested by the date printed on the back of the plate, but inspired by 18th century porcelain, to be precise inspired by the "Saxon-style", a term which can be ascribed to the 18th-century Germanic tradition, according to which porcelain was made with reliefs similar to woven baskets. This vintage dinner service is produced by a historic Italian manufacturer "Richard Ginori" founded in Tuscany, in Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, of which Gio Ponti was creative director for 10 years. After declaring bankruptcy in 2013, this historic porcelain factory, in operation since 1735, was taken over by the Gucci group which restarted the production of iconic pieces and novelties inspired by archive pieces of the company. This set of dishes is a rarity as it is the result of an unusual combination that has the 18th century as its common thread, with the Rococo style, the scientific discoveries and the new botanical varieties resulting from the new trade routes of the companions of the Indies. On the classic Richard Ginori series, i.e. the total white motif called "Vecchio Ginori" (currently put back into production by Gucci) always and exclusively produced in total white, a botanical print by Abraham Munting depicting an orange plant was printed. Abraham Munting is a Dutch botanist famous for his unusual illustrations where plant species were depicted against a background of classic or pastoral landscapes, often floating in midair with little regard for perspective and relative sizes, in fact, the orange plant is not forced to inside the center of the plate but goes outside the predefined spaces wrapping it. The dinner set consists of 30 pieces: 6 dessert or appetizer plates with a diameter of 19.5 cm 12 soup plates with a diameter of 23cm 12 dinner plates with a diameter of 24.5 cm The service could be considered for 6 with the double serving plate for soups and second courses, or you could purchase 6 totally white fruit plates...

Richard Ginori Galli Rossi Roosters Porcelain Dinner Service, 86 pieces, 1960s
By Richard Ginori
Located in Firenze, IT
Exceptional 86-piece Richard Ginori “Galli Rossi” porcelain dinner service, handcrafted in Florence, 1960s, in immaculate and complete condition. This is a rare 86-piece porcelain complete dinner service by Richard Ginori, handcrafted at the historic Doccia Manufactory in Florence between the 1960s and 1970s. The celebrated “Galli Rossi” pattern, one of the most iconic in Ginori’s repertoire, features stylised red roosters and floral motifs in warm Siena tones, delicately hand-finished with 24k gold trim and accents. Each piece, made of fine hard-paste porcelain with a scalloped, embossed edge that catches the light beautifully, exemplifies the refinement and excellence of mid-century Italian craftsmanship. This extensive and iconic vintage fine porcelain tableware set is complete and perfectly preserved. An extraordinary rarity, this porcelain dinner service is almost impossible to find today in such a comprehensive and immaculate condition. Our set includes: 24 dinner plates, 12 soup plates, 12 dessert or fruit plates, 12 coffee cups with 12 saucers, one coffee pot, one sugar bowl, one milk jug, three oval serving platters, one round serving platter, one salad bowl, one soup tureen, two serving dishes, two cake stands, and one sauce boat. Every piece bears the “Richard Ginori - Manifattura di Doccia Florence Italy” backstamp, dating the service between 1965 and 1975, when Ginori successfully merged Tuscan decorative tradition with contemporary international taste. The ‘Galli Rossi’ motif, first introduced in 1747, draws inspiration from Eastern aesthetics, chinoiserie and the 18th-century European fascination with the exotic. Its stylised roosters, delicate foliage, and refined palette reflect the cross-cultural influences that shaped Italian decorative arts of the period. Depicting two roosters in a dynamic stance among stylised rocks and foliage, itts rich red and gold palette, combined with the sculptural basketweave texture, makes this set a true collector’s treasure. This complete set is in perfect condition and has never been used, making it an exceptional find for collectors and connoisseurs of Italian porcelain Discontinued in the 1980s, it remains highly sought after by connoisseurs and interior designers alike. Beyond the dining table, the “Galli Rossi” pieces make a striking decorative statement. Displayed in a glass-fronted cabinet, on open shelving, or styled as wall art, their warm Siena tones and gold accents bring a touch of Florentine grandeur to any interior. Designers often pair them with antique linens, Murano glassware, or dark wood furniture to create a layered, timeless look that celebrates Italian heritage. Perfect for elegant festive tables, refined dinner parties, or as a luxurious wedding or holiday gift, this Richard Ginori dinner service brings Italian heritage and sophistication to any setting. In excellent condition. A rare opportunity to acquire a complete service in excellent condition, perfect for collectors or as a centerpiece in a refined dining room.
