French artist Aima Saint Hunon opens up other horizons through her painting, which launches her into her imagination- mixing gaiety, enthusiasm, and passion. Her unique and personal technique integrates different materials into the color of her paintings. Sand, wood, pigments, paper, and other substances uniting at the moment of creation captivate our attention, as do the flowing lines of her drawings. She creates solely through emotion and the direct experience of her environment influences her the most.
Always in search of expression, Aima establishes a direct relationship between the sensuality of the world in which she lives and that of her own body, often staging a series of performances, videos, and photos. After 5 years of theatrical studies at various schools in Paris, the artist shares her vision through a series of video art where the emotion of a place is reflected in an abstract fashion, allowing the imagination of the spectator to interpret freely. Her performances during private viewings add an extra layer of energy to the work being shown.
As a result of her unique open-minded approach to creativity, Aima’s sculptures, paintings, photos, poems, and videos exude a multi-cultural character that reflects a world where creativity has no barriers and no limits.to

A striking mid-century textural color-field abstract in a bold color palette of royal blue-purple by San Francisco artist Peter Witwer (American, 1928-1968). This highly textured mixed media piece, c.1960's, uses a monochromatic palette that is divided into two areas of varying textural depths. The lower part of the canvas verges on sculptural, as the textured surface becomes almost three-dimensional and haunting forms emerge from the abstract purple-blue plane.

Displayed in a painted wood slate frame. Frame has been painted by the artist and is considered part of the artwork.

Provenance: Without a will and a family that had little interest in his art, nearly all of his possessions and close to 100 paintings were turned over to SF’s Conservators Office. His friend, Albert Richard Lasker, purchased all of Peter’s possessions (including the art) and has taken care of them until this day, always sensing there was something remarkable about the collection. Wanting Peter’s work to finally be seen, Richard came to Lost Art Salon with Peter’s story after reading about the new gallery in a July, 2005 issue of the SF Chronicle.
