Alicia Penalba was born in Argentina in the early part of the 20th Century and moved to France in in 1948 to study at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. Here she developed the abstracted style of sculpture she best became known for. She was very inspired by her native Latin American landscapes.
