Barbini Murano Ruby Red Gold Flecks Italian Art Glass Bird Sculpture Signed
By Weil Ceramics and Glass, Alfredo Barbini
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Murano hand blown Italian art glass bird sculpture or figurine features a minimal, restrained palette of dark red and off-white with delicate gold lead, or aventurine, accents. The colored glass is encased in a layer clear glass in sommerso technique, adding depth and complexity to the piece. The bird is sitting on sculptural, rounded base, done in clear glass with gold flecks, elevating it without adding a visually heavy element. The main color is referred to as "Ruby Red" in Weil's catalogue of Alfredo Barbini Murano glass. The piece is marked with the original gold red oval scalloped foil label, “Venetian - Made by Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics and Glass - Murano Italy”, that was in use in 1960s. It is in very good vintage condition, and is ready to be displayed; it would make a great gift to a collector or a design enthusiast and a great display piece on a shelf or a table, and make a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Mid Century Modern, Transitional, Collected, or Contemporary. We are offering another Murano glass bird figurine in red and gold colorway, done in similar style, marked with old generic imported Murano glass label, and attributed to Barbini, and Galliano Ferro bird sculpture in blue and gold colorway, that is stylistically similar to both Barbini bird...

20th Century Barbini Murano Art Glass Apple Paperweight for Oggetti
By Barbini
Located in Miami Beach, FL
This beautiful piece is like new with tags. Made by famous Murano Artist Alfredo Barbini. According to 20th century glass: Alfredo Barbini began learning the art of glass making in 1912, aged ten, at Abate Zanetti, the design school attached to the Murano Glass museum. He then went on to work for Ferro Toso, Cristalleria Murano, Zecchin-Martinuzzi, Seguso Vetri'dArte and Vetri Artistici Muranesi Societa Anonima. In 1946 he became a partner at Cenedese, and then began Barbini Glassworks in 1950. Barbini has become renowned for his heavy, thick sculptural forms which have won him many awards. In 1952 Alfredo's daugher Oceania Barbini-Moretti joined the glassworks and is now the company's sales manager. His son Flavio became a designer for the firm in 1968. Venetian art glass apple...
