A very rare sofa, this is a vintage piece bought from Harrods London in the late 60's to early 70's, the leather upholstery is all original, the cushions are full leather on both sides so should the worst happen and you damage or stain one side you can simply flip it over
The sofa has been fully restored to include a light strip back, its then been hand dyed six times and antiqued this one of a kind deep cigar brown colour. The feet are all new hand turned solid walnut which have been professionally stained and French polished, they have been specially fitted with 8mm metal axles so they can be unscrewed for ease of transport, the base cover is hessian throughout

A very desirable and highly collectable pair, the frames are all hand carved from mahogany and are what’s called Famboo which is fake bamboo, in the Regency era at the beginning of the 1800’s Chinese influences for style and design with regards to all walks of life, clothing, pottery and furniture were well and truly incorporating themselves into high society here in England, as such our finest furniture makers like Thomas Chippendale and Gillows were looking to make their own pieces using inspiration from the east, the most popular designs of the day for the furniture were this type of Famboo furniture, they were the height of style, design and sophistication of the day.
