David Wang Still-life Drawings and Watercolors

David Wang is a native of Beijing, China. He completed his education from the Beijing Education College of China in 1984, where he learned various techniques in drawing, watercolor, oil painting, sculpture, graphic design and Chinese watercolor. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree, he became a fine arts teacher. During his eight years of teaching, he has taught hundreds of quality students, some becoming professional artists and cinematographers. Wang has also accomplished several major art and design projects, such as designing and creating an exhibit of the Terra-Cotta army warriors in the Forbidden City and interior designs for shopping plazas in Beijing. In 1988, David came to the U.S as a visitor scholar and studied at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. After his studies in 1992, he continued his profession as a full-time artist. For 12 years, Wang had a successful career creating visual art for the Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio, Florida. He worked as a senior background artist from concept development to production final work. His work has achieved him credits on Pocahontas, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo Stitch, Brother Bear and The Princess and the Frog. He has also been credited for his work in Curious George. Wang's love for art began at a very young age. The art of masters such as Rembrandt, John S. Sargent, Joaquín Sorolla, Andrew Wyeth, Frederic Remington and Frank Tenney Johnson have profoundly influenced his art. Wang works mainly with oils in a realistic style, which he finds to be the best way to express his love for nature and his spiritual world. Wang's paintings have been shown in regional and national exhibitions, including "Arts for the Parks" national competition, where two of his landscape paintings were placed in the top 100 in 2002 and 2003. He was a portrait competition finalist in Artists Magazine in 1999, and his work was shown in Western Art Collector magazine in 2009. David currently paints full-time at his studio in Orlando, Florida, and he exhibits his work at The Plainsmen Gallery in Clearwater, Florida.
