Attending the Nottingham School of Art and having studied under Arthur Spooner, a respected animal artist, it is no surprise that her wher ork from the 1930s is focused entirely on art relating to dogs, recording images of many significant canine breed champions.

Born in Wisconsin on May 20, 1855. Straight appears to have migrated to northern California in the late 1870s.
