Early Golf Club, Iron By W. Wilson Of St Andrews
Located in Oxfordshire, GB
Early Golf Club, Iron By Willie Wilson of St Andrews. A rare hand forged blacksmith-made wrought iron Victorian golf club cleek by Willie Wilson of St Andrews. The smooth faced lofting iron is heavy weighted, hickory shafted with crisp nicking to the top of the hosel where it meets the shaft. It is with leather sheep skin grip, the back of the iron club head stamped 'W. Wilson, Maker, St. Andrews'. The patina of the metal head is very attractive to collectors. Willie Wilson was one of the early ironmakers who produced fine clubs during the late 19th century. The measurements shown are the length of the shaft with hosel and the width and depth of the face. Willie Wilson of St Andrews was a well-known Scottish golf clubmaker. He began making irons in the 1860's and remained in business to the end of the century. He was among one of the most respected craftsmen in St Andrews, the "Home of Golf". Willie was known for producing handmade hickory-shafted golf clubs of high quality. His clubs were well-regarded for their balance, finish, and playability, and today they are sought after by collectors of antique golf equipment...

Early 20th-Century English Sovereign Balance Scale by Harrison
Located in Atlanta, GA
This early 20th-century English sovereign balance scale, marked “Harrison”, was designed to verify the weight and authenticity of full and half sovereign gold coins. A finely crafted piece of precision engineering, it features a brass balance arm with two coin slots labeled “Sovereign Warranted” and “Sovereign ½”, ensuring accurate weight measurement. The base, also inscribed with “Harrison” and adorned with a crowned hallmark, reflects its quality craftsmanship. These compact, mechanical scales were widely used by bankers, jewelers, and traders during the early 1900s to prevent fraud and counterfeit currency circulation. Their simple yet effective design remains a testament to the ingenuity of the time. A rare and collectible piece of British numismatic history, this scale is perfect for collectors of antique measuring...
