Federico Fellini Art
Italian, 1920-1993
Drawings have been an important part of Federico Fellini's life and career. In his early years, he worked as a cartoonist and opened the Funny Face Shop in 1943 with caricatures and sketches of American soldiers in Italy. In this shop, Fellini met Roberto Rossellini, the Italian film director. Mr. Rossellini who hired Fellini to assist him in Open City. By 1950, he made his directorial debut with the film Variety Lights and by 1950, he earned an Academy Award for La Strada.
