Frank Newbould More Prints
British, 1887-1951
Frank Newbould was born in Bradford and studied at Bradford College of Art. He worked as a black-and-white illustrator and as a poster artist and was renowned for his use of bright, flat areas of color in his work. During the First World War, he produced few posters but made many designs for the London and North Eastern Railways (LNER), London Transport, and the Orient Line during the inter-war period. At the beginning of the Second World War, Newbould produced a recruiting poster for the Auxiliary Fire Service and, in 1942, joined the War Office as an assistant to Abram Games (1914-1996). For the War Office, he produced eleven posters, including his famous 'Your Britain, Fight for It Now' series.to
