After having exhibited numerous works at the Royal Academy and winning awards, Goodall traveled to Egypt 1858 and again in 1870.
He worked throughout his life, with the Egyptian scenes featuring prominently. His work was highly sought after and appreciated - especially his plein-air work from his adventurous travels to Egypt. He accumulated a considerable amount of wealth and more importantly died as a highly respected artist.to
