George II Sterling Silver Basket, London, 1747

A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial. The top of the handle is decorated with a leaf form cartouche within which is the crest of a deer. The sides of the raised basket with hand cut pierced decoration. The whole standing on four cast and applied legs, decorated with a beautiful scrolling foliate design rising to high relief female faces, on leaf-form pad feet.
Hallmarked to the underside for London 1747 by Edward Aldridge. The underside of the handle bears the lion passant and maker’s mark, both struck twice.

A pair of large Antique Irish George II Silver Sauce Boats in a classic bellied style with everted rims and acanthus leaf topped scroll handles. Each Irish Sterling Silver Gravy Boat stands on three stylised shell feet with shell capitals. Each Sauce Boat has an armorial engraved on the one side and a crest engraved on the other.

This exceptional pair of antique cast sterling silver gilt grape shears has a hinged scissor action.
The handles of these antique silver grape scissors are embellished with intertwining fruiting vine ornamentation, accented with grape clusters and foliage.
The fingerpieces are ornamented with details reproducing the features of the natural vine.
The circular hinged portion is surmounted with a lobed rosette design.
The grape shears are fitted with plain and unembellished blades, with a rounded outer edge.
These exceptional examples of 19th century silverware retain the original gilding.
