Giovanni Costa Art
Italian, 1826-1903
Giovanni Costa (or Nino Costa) was the leading exponent of nineteenth-century Roman painting. He contributed to the spread of naturalistic ideas among the members of the Macchiaioli pictorial movement. Costa was also famous for having actively participated in the Garibaldi campaigns of 1848–49 and 1859.
