GORDON CHANDLER b. 1953, Springfield, MA
American sculptor Gordon Chandler first studied sculpture at Maine’s Skowhegan School of Painting
Sculpture. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts in sculpture from the University of Massachusetts. In 1976, he founded W&P Builders for the manufacture of welded steel woodstoves.
Renowned for his work with salvaged metal, Chandler has exhibited his sculpture and functional art across the country, including nearly yearly participation in Chicago’s Sculpture, Objects, Functional Art Exhibition since 1997. He is well known for his series of steel drum kimonos, buck heads, and reclaimed metal furniture. His work can be found in public and private collections across the country.to
