This explains the choice to keep the original frame even if it is not in perfect condition, the idea is to keep the work as the painter wanted it. about the artist : Gustave David Riquet was born on June 26 1866 he died on July 27 1938 He was a French painter. Gustave Riquet was the son of a merchant from Nîmes. He studied in the workshops of Carolus-Duran , Dubufe and Galland. In 1897, he was appointed professor of painting and decorative composition at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Amiens . This is how he became Amiens by adoption, and remained so until his death.  His work, in Amiens and in the region, is important: easel paintings, watercolors or illustrations and, above all, monumental painting. Most of this work is devoted to religious art.
