Jack Perno Portrait Photography

American
“I have used photography and it has used me. I have forced my will upon photography and have become a slave to its possibilities.” As a freshman, I stepped into my first photography class, and it has been part of my life everyday since. Photography has been my escape, a place where things that don’t exist, can exist. I embrace risk and chaos in my images and intentionally keep myself off balance in search of the unpredictable. The camera is my storyteller, a liar, and my friend. I have intentionally made things look more beautiful than they really are, and created narratives that simply do not exist. In my world, film is still relevant to photography, although I simultaneously embrace the digital realm. As a Polaroid artist, I utilize a nearly irrelevant photographic media, endangered and near extinction. A priority of my concentration has been large format Polaroid work, which has encompassed a decade of emulsion manipulation and multiple-imagery. Polaroid is The Vanishing Medium, and a degenerating art form and that’s interesting. That’s interesting has nourished my curiosity for decades, resulting in images that I might never have imagined. Post-visualization is a domain where I’ve resided often, extracting imagery through manipulation during and after exposures, out of the camera and in the lab. Altering the conventional square/rectangular boundaries of the photograph and trapping ideas in gelatin, which are subsequently encrypted, is an indulgence to which I’ve surrendered myself. In a world of photographic editions, an emulsion manipulation is a single piece, simultaneously photography and sculpture. Social narratives are generally accidental, and although I gravitate toward the non-realistic side of photography, historical recording has found it’s way into my work by being at a place, at a time, with a camera, as an observer. These are images that merge as contributions to the overall body of work and part of the great unpredictable. Historically, I have fused art and commerce as an artist who embraces short and long term projects, using the print and the printed page as my forum. Images which are susceptible to multiple interpretations, encouraging dissection and dialogue are my companions. In my photographs, ideas and stories exist where truth and reality are discretionary electives. Living in my world is fine, but visiting my otherworld is often amazing.” -Jack Perno Jack Perno’s photographs have been published in Town Country, Vogue, and Italian Vogue. Most recently, his work can been seen on the cover and inside pages of ART + DESIGN MAGAZINE (Winter 2017 issue).

"Kate Moss. Boyfriends Underpants" Photography 50x40 in Ed. of 20 by Kate Garner

Located in Culver City, CA
"Kate Moss. Boyfriends Underpants" Photography 50x40 in Ed. of 20 by Kate Garner Signed & numbered by the artist Hahnemuhle fine art archival paper Not framed. Ships rolled in tube. Kate Garner: Seeker, Sage, and Preservationist of Identity A thoughtful selection of Kate Garner’s most pivotal work, showing the arc of identity, and her expression as one of the great masters of fine art photography today. In this collection of works, see rare and seldom viewed images of Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie, David Bowie, FKA Twigs, and more. Kate Garner evolved in the edgy pop-punk heyday of 1980’s London. By the time she was in her early 20s, she was well on her way to becoming one of the most enigmatic fine art photographers of our time. But it didn’t start that way. Until Kate was 19, she had spent most of her time in a tough mining town in the north of England. It was a practical place with practical people that studied practical vocations and couldn't afford to let themselves dream too much. Growing up, Kate had expected a similar existence, but it was never what she had envisioned. Like much of her class, she attended formal trade education at the local vocational college after graduating secondary school and spending a year hitch-hiking from England, through Europe, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan to India Garner came back from India and started to study commercial photography, and in Northern England, that meant--pots and pans. But, Kate knew she was different and would often take herself down into the thriving metropolis of London to see and experience the vibrant Mecca of arts and creatives. Her creative path took a pivotal point when her wanderings introduced her to the Blitz Kids. The art students and teenage squatters took her in, and It wasn’t long before she began shooting the streets with London’s party scene artisans and gender-bending pioneers. Working with John Galliano, Stephen Jones, Boy George, and later even David Bowie--Kate became fully immersed in the New Romantic...
