The Allegory of the Four Seasons is an original old master canvas realized by the Dutch artist Jacob de Wit in 1723. Original oil on canvas. A gilded wood frame is included. Han-signed and dated: "J WIT 1723". Excellent conditions. Wonderful ancient painting realized in Germany by Jacob de Wit and depicting four figures of angels in a natural landscape. The four putti represents four allegories, specifically the allegories of the four seasons. All of them, are indeed one of the four seasons and can be distinguished by typical attributes; the first on the left depicts the Winter (the putto is in fact warming up and has his head covered by a blanket); in the upper part we see the Autumn (we recognize it for the head surrounded by a crown of tendrils and by the golden cloak...
