Sculptural cocktail ring designed by Jean Mahie. A very rare piece of wearable art, created in Paris France by the artist, sculptor and goldsmith Jean Mahie, back in the late 1970's. Mahie's rings with color gemstones like this, are very rare and mostly only created by special commissions. This sculptural imposing cocktail ring has been carefully crafted in solid rich yellow gold of 22 karats, with all the surfaces finished with textured, chiseled and hammered patterns. It is a very impressive, bold, large piece and lends on the wearer a big, big, big... gold look. Amethyst: Mount in the center in a bezel, with one oval cabochon cut (24 x 21 x 13 mm) of a natural vivid purple African amethyst of 55 carats. Weight: Has a total weight of 51.95 grams ( 33.31 Dwt). Size: The actual size is 7 and can be sized. Measurements: 30 mm by 32 mm (1.18 x 1.26 Inches) and raise 16 mm over the finger. Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks, the head of the eagle for the assay and warranty of the 22kt gold, the maker's maitre mark JM associated to Jean Mahie in a lozange cartouche and Signed in full on the bottom, "JEAN MAHIE 22KT JM ". Jean Mahie, is the result of a wonderfully symbiotic and fruitful partnership between Jacline Mazard and her father-in-law Jean-Marie Mazard. They first began combining their artistic talents in 1969, working from a studio in Mouans-Sartoux in the South of France, and launched their jewellery line the following year. Neither was formally trained and both preferred to work with 22ct gold in order to realize their unique style that embodied primitive form, motifs and techniques. Everything they made was entirely hand crafted with Jacline often drawing inspiration from her memories of growing up near the ancient ruins of Carthage in Tunisia. Cocktail ring designed by Jean Mahie. An incredible piece of wearable art, created in Paris France by the artist and goldsmith Jean Mahie, back in the 1980. This little sculpture has been crafted in solid rich yellow gold of 22 karats with the surface finished with textured and hammered patterns. Has a total weight of 12.95 grams and the actual size is 6.75 sizable. The top view measurements are 32 mm by 19 mm (1.26 x 0.75 Inches). Stamped, with the maker's mark, the hallmark for the assay of the gold and signed, "JM 22Kt.". A handmade pinky ring by Jean Mahie in 22 carat yellow gold finished with pearls and diamonds, circa 1980. This ring is designed as an organic flow of metal around the finger. At one end the ring is finished with a single white Akoya cultured pearl measuring 7.4mm in diameter. The other end is set with two round brilliant cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 0.25cts, and two more white Akoya cultured pearls. The diamonds are of VS clarity and E-F colour. Signed Jean Mahie and numbered 1038, it is also stamped with maker’s mark JM and the French mark for 22 carat gold. US finger size 4 , UK size H.5, this ring may be sized to fit.
