John James Audubon Contemporary Art
American, French, 1785-1851
John James Audubon (April 26, 1785, Les Cayes, Saint-Domingue (later Haiti) – January 27, 1851 (aged 65) Manhattan, New York, U.S.), born Jean-Jacques Audubon, was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. He was notable for his expansive studies to document all types of American birds and for his detailed illustrations that depicted the birds in their natural habitats. His major work, a color-plate book entitled The Birds of America (1827–1839), is considered one of the finest ornithological works ever completed. Audubon identified 25 new species.to

Masami Teraoka Signed Limited Print New Views of Mt. Fuji, Sinking Pleasure Boat
By Masami Teraoka
Located in Studio City, CA
A very large and wonderfully detailed screen print by Asian/ Japanese American artist Masami Teraoka titled "New Views of Mt. Fuji: Sinking Pleasure Boat" is based on his original 1976-77 painting by the same name.
The print is numbered in pencil at the lower edge (63/75), blind-stamped and dated (1977) at the upper right, sealed by Teraoka with his personal stamps/seals within the image, and likely hand-signed on verso (we have not removed the artwork from the frame but this is most likely the case). The work was printed on Rives BFK paper by Ron McPherson and Julie McPherson, and published by Space Gallery, Los Angeles, CA.
Masami Teraoka has had over 70 solo exhibitions and he has twice been honored by the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York. He has also received two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. His works can be found in collections and museums around the world including:
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D. C.; the Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the National Portrait Gallery, Washington D. C.; Tate Modern, London, England; the Queensland Art Gallery/GOMA, Brisbane, Australia; the Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, Scotland and the Singapore Art...
