A Junior Sophisticates Original black paillette and pink linen dress and coat set from the 1960s designed by Anne Klein. Junior Sophisticates was started in 1948 by husband and wife Ben and Anne Klein, sophisticated designs for petite women in junior sizes, which prior to this tended to be surgery sweet teen wear. Anne Klein worked at Junior Sophisticates until the mid 1960s, when Anne Klein Studio and Anne Klein & Company were formed. From the 1960s this dress and coat ensemble is an interesting and chic combination of classic linen with black paillettes which were a big fashion item at the time. The coat is a traditional double breasted style with wide lapels and an open neckline perfect for adding a necklace, on seam front pockets, decorative black jewel buttons close at the inside coat front with hidden snaps.
