Karpen Wingback Chairs in Luxuriously Soft Milk Chocolate Shearling, circa 1950s
By Karpen of California
Located in Saint Louis, MO
Stunning one of a kind pair of Mid-Century Modern wingback chairs by Karpen upholstered in super soft hand sewn Cocoa Milk Chocolate Shearling. The sort of chairs that become a family heirloom. A great reading chair. Perfect for a sexy mountain lodge or cigar room. A successful executive's evening chairs - perhaps fireside - while enjoying a robust Cabernet or a single malt scotch whiskey and cigar. Tall sculptural wingbacks have a commanding shape with an air of old money. The chairs are covered from top to bottom & front and back in several hand cut and sewn shearling hides. The Chocolate Shearling squares gently soften the formality to deliver super soft comfort and a luxurious look and sheen. You can't help but want to run your hand over the super soft shearling. Rich in color, the hides reflect light in different ways adding contrast and depth. Natural chestnut red highlights surface in the Cocoa Shearling. Tufted rounded backs - as originally designed - reinforce the chic and elegant vibe and invite you to lean back and relax. Wide seat and backs. Original sturdy walnut frame and conical legs. Shearling is highly durable and cleans up well - red wine approved. Seat cushions are upholstered in shearling on both sides in case you need a quick seat cushion flip - no expense spared. These Karpen Wingback shearling chairs are a special treat and wonderful acquisition. As glamorous and sexy today as when first made in the 1950s. Timeless. And they are the only pair available. Questions About Karpen
Bros. Lounge Chairs
- What does 1847 Rogers Bros mean?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertAugust 8, 2024What 1847 Rogers Bros means is that it indicates a certain manufacturer. You'll find this marking on silverware, serveware and decorative objects made by the International Silver Company, which was formed in 1862 after the merger of the Meriden Britannia Company buying out Rogers Brothers Mfg. Co. The International Silver Company was well-known for producing silverplate objects that featured a thin layer of genuine silver over base materials. On 1stDibs, find an assortment of silver wares.
- Is 1847 Rogers Bros real silver?1 Answer1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022Partly. All 1847 Rogers Bros silverware is silverplate, which consists of a very thin layer of silver over a metal base made from copper, nickel or brass. “1847 Rogers Bros” is a trademark used starting in 1862, when Meriden Britannia Company purchased the hollowware division of Rogers Brothers Mfg. Co. and joined up with independent metalsmiths to form International Silver Co. Shop a range of antique and vintage Rogers Bros 1847 from top boutique sellers on 1stDibs.
- 1stDibs ExpertOctober 24, 2024Yes, 1847 Roger Bros. silverware may be worth something. However, any value usually comes from the style, type, age and condition of pieces rather than their materials. This is because Roger Bros. specialized in silver plate rather than solid silver wares. As a result, most Roger Bros. pieces contain very little pure silver. A certified appraiser or knowledgeable antique dealer can be of assistance when valuing Roger Bros. pieces. On 1stDibs, find an assortment of Roger Bros. silver wares.
