This great mid-century design by Larter & Sons was destined to sit in our showcase until doomsday if it remained trapped as cufflinks. So few people wear cufflinks anymore that there are probably a hundred pairs of fantastic vintage cufflinks out there for every shirt that needs them. Reincarnated as a pair of post earrings, on the other hand, these dishy discs can finally get the attention they deserve. The tight but irregular sunburst pattern has a brushed appearance which makes for gorgeous variations in tone and color (and effortlessly absorbs surface scratches accumulated over the years). There's also a whisper-thin wash of rose gold over the fronts (contrasting with the high-polish bright yellow of the backs). The center diamonds are about 0.06 carats each -- small but bright and clean, brilliant cut and bezel set. All that texture, with the soft rosy color and the bright center diamonds make for perfect earrings: they love the light and flatter the face. And to think they were once wasted on shirt cuffs!
