Lorenzo Pozzolini Furniture

Italian, b. 1991

Lorenzo Pozzolini (b. 1991, Italy) trained at L’École Boulle in Paris, specializing in cabinet-making and furniture conservation. He studied under the direction of Fabrice Papin (Meilleure Ouvrier de France 2015), and it was at the Ecole Boulle that he first discovered a passion for the history and techniques of furniture making.

Upon returning returning to New York, he worked for five years at Fine Wood Conservation (where he gained experience working on designs of, among others, Chareau, Ruhlmann, Printz, J. Walsh, Campagna Brothers, and on artworks by Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Ai Weiwei, to name but a few), before opening his own practice in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

He continues to conserve and restore fine furniture and artworks, but, in his studio practice, Pozzolini has devoted himself to designing and executing his own beautiful creations.

“My work is inspired by nature, Art Nouveau and Deco design, a strong need to make something contemporary that isn’t beige and could be mistaken for a rock, promises you’ve made to your life-partner, a fear of failure, and to taste again the joy of being proud of what you’ve created.”

He is very pleased with his work when it’s excellent, and even more so when it brings joy to others. Otherwise, he doesn’t “like blurbs or boring furniture,” and believes in letting his “work speak for itself.”
