"Dancer s Dream" Large Original Oil Painting by Robert White, Frameless Display
Located in Encino, CA
“Dancer's Dream,” an original oil on canvas by Robert K. White, is a piece for the true collector. White’s careful attention to detail and vivid use of greens, browns, and whites project from the painting, immediately capturing the viewer's attention and highlighting the artist's keen ability to capture emotion and life - all in a brushstroke. White's talent for depicting light and shadow provides the foundation for him to deliver subjects and scenes to the viewer's eye. This masterful work would make a great addition to an art collection and enhance most any home, perfect for those who have an affinity for dancers, the ballet, portraits, and color-rich works of art. In the artist’s own words, “I don’t paint what is inside of me; I paint what I see outside of me. I’m an observer. If I see something and I feel an affinity for it, something just clicks in my head. I’ll make the decision right then and there to paint that particular subject during that particular moment. It’s a perfect moment. Once something has caught my eye and I’ve heard the “perfect” click, it’s like a photograph has been taken in my mind’s eye. I only have a few days of clarity with that image. I have to start the painting quickly or else it will be gone and I will lose that image forever.” Artist: ROBERT KENNETH WHITE...

As a New Yorker, I feel a personal and deep connection to this rich, energetic and beautiful city with its amazingly diverse population. My objective is to paint about the people of New York, realistically and with compassion. I have expressed my strongly held feelings about peace and justice; deep outrage to war, injustice and torture are conveyed in some of my paintings. With regard to these themes, I have been inspired by Old Masters such as Caravaggio, Goya, Kollwitz and Picasso. I choose to paint realistically because I believe realism is truth and truth is beauty. I derive an aesthetic pleasure in skillfully done realistic drawings and paintings. I believe that realism can communicate ideas strongly and it is this communication that is extremely important to me.” – Max Ginsburg Born: Paris, France, 1931 Education: High School of Music and Art, New York, NY (1945-1949) Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, BFA (1949-1953) City College of New York, New York, NY, MA (1960-1963) Studied informally with Abraham Ginsburg over many years Teaching: High School of Art and Design, New York, NY (1960 -1982) School of Visual Arts, New York, NY (1984 -2000) Art Students League, New York, NY (1997-2000; 2008-2011) Workshops: Art Students League, New York, NY Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Los Angeles, CA Atelier de Bresoles, Montreal, Canada Salmagundi Club, New York, NY Art League of Long Island, Dix Hills, NY Academy of Fine Arts, Laval, QC, Canada Painting Demonstrations: Allied Artists of America, New York, NY Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, Los Angeles, CA Salmagundi Club, New York, NY Society of Illustrators, New York, NY Laguna College of Art, Laguna, CA Art League of Long Island, Dix Hills, NY Solo Exhibitions: The Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH 2011 (Retrospective) Salmagundi Club, New York, NY 2011 (Retrospective) International Peace Museum – Missing Art Space, Dayton, OH 2009 Martin Luther King Labor Center Gallery,1199 SEIU, New York, NY 2008 Franklin Mint, Exton, PA 1993 Reyn Gallery, New York, NY 1980 Harbor Gallery, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 1980, 1978, 1977, 1975, 1974,1972, 1971, 1969, 1968, 1966 Gallery 306, Bala Cynwood, PA 1979 Martin Luther King Labor Center, Local 1199, New York, NY 1977, 1972 Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY 1953 Selected Awards: “Best in Show” Award – Art Renewal Center Salon, 2011 Joseph Hartley Memorial Award, Salmagundi Club non-members Juried Exhibition, 2010 Philip Desind Award, 72nd National Midyear Exhibition, The Butler Institute of American Art, 2008 Forbes Magazine Award, Salmagundi Club non-members Juried Exhibition, 2008 Collectors Prize, 71st National Midyear Exhibition, The Butler Institute of American Art, 2007 Best in Show Award, Salmagundi Club non-members Juried Exhibition, 2007 Elias and Lillian Judith Newman Award, Audubon Artists, 2007 The Len G.
