American, b. 1961
Michael Paraskevas, born in 1961, is a versatile American artist whose creative output spans fine art, illustration, cartooning, and animation. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, where he earned both his BFA and MFA, Paraskevas' illustrations have been featured in prominent publications such as Time, Sports Illustrated, and The New York Times, while his comic strips, including "Green Monkeys" and "Junior Kroll," have entertained readers in various periodicals. In collaboration with his mother, Betty Paraskevas, he co-created beloved children's animated series like "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast," "Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse," and "The Kids from Room 402," as well as the television special "The Tangerine Bear." Working in a variety of mediums, including acrylic, oil, and watercolor, Paraskevas continues to expand his artistic horizons from his home in Southampton, New York, where he resides with his wife, Maria, and pursues new animated projects.to
