This artwork titled "Span" 1993 in an acrylic painting on paper by noted artist Richard Morhous, b.1940. It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. About the artist:
Richard Morhous is a nationally recognized artist whose work is collected countrywide. Emphasizing painterly qualities and expressionistic color, Morhous creates tangible, new worlds of pictorial space. His colorful paintings depict dynamic cityscapes, still life, and landscapes.
Richard Morhous was born in South Dakota in 1945 and raised in Eastern Washington and Montana. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 1970, Morhous moved to Melbourne, Australia to study printmaking at the Prahan Institute where he also taught. In 1976 he returned to the University of Washington for independent studies in printmaking.
The artist, who has resided in Seattle for the last 40 years, has works included in such collections as Microsoft, The Hallie Ford Museum of Art, City of Portland, City of Seattle, Cisco Systems, Perkins Coie, Deloitte Touche, University of Washington Medical Center, The Heathman Hotel and numerousprivate collections internationally. Kipp Stewart (American, b. 1928) is an artist, architect, and designer from Pennsylvania. Known to furniture obsessives for the Declaration series he codesigned for North Carolina’s Drexel Furniture, Stewart is most commonly associated with mid-century design movements of his adopted home state of California. There, in 1972, Stewart designed the Ventana Big Sur, a luxury resort near Montecito for which he oversaw architecture, planning, furniture and interior design across 160 acres of land.
By the time Stewart spearheaded the Ventana, he was already well versed in furniture design. After briefly serving in the U.S. Navy as a teenager, Stewart enrolled at the Chouinard Art Institute (present-day Cal Arts) in Los Angeles. By the time he graduated, he was steeped in the world of modern seating design, experimenting with new chair models that bridged form and function. Charles and Ray Eames were important influences on his early work, which included a chrome-framed lounge chair whose reclined shape bears a striking resemblance to the Eames iconic lounge.
In the late 1950s, Stewart partnered with another West Coast furniture designer, Stewart MacDougall, on a line of modern furniture for Drexel. (The pair were also producing case pieces and more for Glenn of California.) Drexel soon unveiled Stewart and McDougall’s Declaration line, which was constructed entirely of natural walnut and featured the choice of white porcelain or brass drawer pulls and cabinet door handles...

In this painting, Igor Fomin not only tells us the story of a couple who keep their love secret, he also tells us about that beautiful old place, a witness to their love affairs, and those neighbors, who should not find out and who make their lives. An entire city, with a splendid aqueduct in the background, through whose arches the view is lost. The set is endowed with a magnificent color and a complex structure, full of planes to stop at all those characters that fill the author's pictorial and literary imaginary.
