Robert Silvers Portrait Photography
American, b. 1968
Robert Silvers invented the Photomosaic® while he was still a student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His career exploded when he was commissioned to create the 60th anniversary cover of “LIFE” magazine. Other notable commissions include portraits of Vice President Al Gore and H.M. King Hussein of Jordan. In 2001, the National Gallery in London selected Silvers’ portrait of Microsoft chairman Bill Gates for their “Painting of the Century” exhibit highlighting influential art of the 21st century. His work has also been exhibited in the New York Museum of Modern Art. His prints can be found in the collections of Disney, the Library of Congress, Lucasfilm Ltd., National Geographic, Newsweek, Paramount Pictures, and Ferrari, among others, as well as the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art. to
