Balanço Bench by Rodrigo Ohtake, Brazilian Contemporary Design
By Rodrigo Ohtake
Located in Sao Paulo, SP
The Balanço Bench was created by the Brazilian contemporary designer Rodrigo Ohtake, in 2019. The mix of materials is the differential in this series. While wood is used as a seat, a metal plate, thick and curved, raises the first material from the ground in a light way and with minimal contact, both with the floor and with the wood. The structure is made of stainless steel and Cumaru Wood. Definitely a one of a kind and unique piece. Graduated at FAU / USP in 2009, with a period of studies at the Polytechnic of Milan, Rodrigo Ohtake is always in search of his own architectural style. Passionate about colors and free forms, he collaborated with architects Mario Biselli, Alvaro Puntoni, and Frenchman Patrick Jouin, in addition to working with his father, Ruy, from 2008 to 2016. In addition to working in the offices, he participated as a curatorial assistant in the exhibitions "Viver na Floresta", curated by Abílio Guerra, "O Coração da Cidade: Invention of Spaces" by Júlio Katinsky...

Brazilian Contemporary Design by Rodrigo Almeida Construtivista chair in Mahog
By Rodrigo Almeida
Located in Sao Paulo, SP
Brazilian Contemporary Design by Rodrigo Almeida Construtivista Chair in Brazilian Mahog, 2014 Limited Edition of 2 The Construtivista chair with versions in Brazilian rosewood and mahogany, combined with straw backrests, uses material from the recycling of furniture. In an interview with architect Tatiana Sakurai (2009), Almeida emphasized that he works - (...) against the flow of the culture for industrial design - and believes tha - this is one of the characteristics of Brazilian art and design -. For him, - Brazilian culture is born of the impasse, of the creative gap that exists between not knowing how to do something and having to do it. I think we are not a technical culture and the good thing about that is that we don't copy things properly... . exhibitions: Coleções, Legado Arte...

Rosewood Bench by Celina Decorações, 1960s, Brazilian Midcentury Design
By Celina Decoracoes
Located in New York, NY
This gorgeous bench was produced in the 1960s by Celina Decorações, which signed one of the most modern lines of Brazilian furniture at the period. It consists of a very well-constructed piece in solid Rosewood, with slats rhythmically positioned supported by two boards working as lateral feet. One of the most beautiful details to pay attention to is the slats' perfect straight finish on the edges that contrast and highlight the organic curves on Rosewood veins. Ideal for indoor uses, this bench offers statement seating in any space. Based in Rio de Janeiro, the Celina Decorações factory imposed high-quality standards, maintaining handcrafted characteristics. The company was created in 1951 when Munis Zilberberg takes over the family business - a small upholstery workshop that worked on refurbishing sofa beds and antique furniture. The name is a tribute to her mother, Celina Zilberberg...
