Sante Monachesi More Prints

Italian

Sante Monachesi was the founder of the "Futurist Movement in Marche" in 1932. During the same year, he was one of the founders of the Futurist Umberto Boccioni Group, Futurists in the Marche, with Bruno Tano and other artists. In 1934, on the occasion of the honors of Giacomo Leopardi in the exhibition of ancient and modern art in Recanati, he held his first solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures. Always interested in research, available for new aesthetic adventures and inspired by new plastic materials, Monachesi created foam and polymethylmethacrylate sculptures in the ‘60s. His long artistic career is testified by important and critical contributions on his work and by numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad. After his death in Rome in 1991, numerous exhibitions have been staged in Italy and international locations.

Color lithograph, Edition 20. Don Ed Hardy’s lithographs, created in the spring of 2007, continue the “look” of his Ghost Writer painting series which has been developed over the past five years. They are evocative of ancient Chinese stone rubbings, or x-rays. Both prints refer to earlier images from Japanese art history. Floater, a meditating skeleton poised above surging waves, was done from memory after a 19th century Japanese painting...

A Thorny Crossing
By Don Ed Hardy
Located in Lyons, CO
Color lithograph, Edition 20. The artist describes this project: "My recent collaboration with Bud Shark resulted in three images based on classic sailing ships, as seen in traditional American tattoo design. Along with sails, they’re rigged out with trellis forms. Both themes have fascinated me since childhood. The house I grew up in was surrounded by trellises. Our small beachfront town was part of Newport Harbor in Southern California, where I saw many varieties of sailing craft. At ten, when I became transfixed by traditional American tattooing...
