Shlomo Katz Art
Israeli, Polish, 1937-1992
Shlomo Katz was born 1937 in Lodz, Poland and he immigrated to Palestine in 1945 at the age of eight. He went to school at Kibbutz Mishmar Ha'emek, and his teachers noticed his artistic ability from the beginning. He then went to Paris to pursue art where he studied at the Ecole de Beaux Arts. It was there that he developed his original technique of oil painting on a gilded metal surface. This gold surface and his rich colors resemble oriental miniatures and medieval icons.
Katz’s serigraphs became the ultimate in modern printmaking and in 1985 he was commissioned by the Falcon Foundation to design 9 large pieces of art for the chapel at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, now considered a National Treasure. Katz's works are featured in galleries and museums in Israel, Australia, France, Hungary, United States, and England.

Throughout art history, the flower and its symbolism have been a subject matter for many renowned artists. Andy Warhol explored the qualities of the flower image through his Pop Art prism in the Flower series of 1964, thus creating cartoon-like symbols that would be instantly recognized.
The 1964 Flower series became one of his most iconic and successful works. Based on a discovered photograph of hibiscus blossoms, Warhol drenched the flowers’ floppy shapes with a variation of vibrant colors, transforming them into psychedelic indoor décor. Playing with traditional art historical themes, Andy Warhol gave a particular twist to this historically accepted symbol of life. The electric colors of his flowers, drawn from a darker and rich undergrowth background might be the indicator of an extreme vision of life, a life lived on the edge.
Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was an American artist, a leading figure of the Pop Art movement. Using a variety of media materials from photographs up to computer-generated art, Warhol's works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity, culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. Emerging from the poverty and obscurity of an Eastern European immigrant family in Pittsburgh, Warhol became a charismatic magnet for bohemian New York. In 1960, he began to produce his first canvases depicting Popeye and Dick Tracy. After Marilyn Monroe’s death in August 1962, he started working from snapshots of the star’s already legendary face, which had been widely distributed by the world’s press. His choice of subjects clearly relates to an obsession with demise – his Marilyns, his Ten Lizies (created when the actress Elizabeth Taylor was seriously ill), and also his Elvis. Part of the “Death and Disaster” series, Andy Warhol´s...

Indian Summer in Nantuckett
By Jane Wooster Scott
Located in San Francisco, CA
This artwork titled "Indian Summer in Nantuckett" is an original offset lithograph on wove paper by American artist Jane Wooster Scott, born 1933. It is hand signed and numbered 681/750 in pencil by the artist. The image size is 27 x 20 inches, framed size is 39 x 32.25 inches. It is beautifully framed in a custom wood frame. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist.
Jane Wooster Scott grew up in the Philadelphia area and moved West following her dream to be a movie star. She quickly learned that goal was not for her, but became the host of a talk show where she interviewed movie stars.
She photographs what she sees to recapture them later on canvas. However, few of her paintings are real, existing scenes. They are compositions drawn from her personal imagination. She has been exhibiting her work in Los Angeles and New York and most of her shows have completely sold out on opening night.
In the "Guinness Book of Records" as one of the most reproduced artists in America, Jane Wooster Scott began copying work by folk artists such as Grandma Moses and gradually evolved into her own style. A turning point for her career was a joint showing at the Ankrum Gallery in Los Angeles with her comedian friend, Jonathan Winters. It was mostly a business crowd, and she sold 40 paintings in an hour.
Her works hang in museums, in public buildings and private homes in Europe, Asia and South America as well as in the United States. She has become legendary for her exceptional scenes of America s celebrations and holidays,
Among her collectors are Aaron Spelling, Sylvester Stallone, Charles Bronson, Kenny Rogers, Farah...
